Sri Lanka, Sept. 8 -- Train operations between Nawalapitiya and Badulla will resume in December this year, Nuwara Eliya District MP and District Co-ordinating Committee Chairman Manjula Suraweera Arachchi said.

He told this to the media yesterday (07) following an inspection tour to assess the ongoing track restoration work near the Great Western and Nanu Oya railway stations, which suffered landslides caused by Cyclone Ditwah.

Elaborating further, Suraweera Arachchi mentioned that the repair work along the affected track is being executed under the Reduction of Landslide Vulnerability by Mitigation Measures Project (RLVMMP), using stabilisation techniques based on recommendations from the National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) ...
