India, May 23 -- Defence Deputy Minister Major General (Retd.) Aruna Jayasekara stated that they are considering releasing the remaining land to the Forest Conservation Department out of the 245.9 hectares currently used by the Navy in the Mullikulam area, while retaining the areas that are important for national security and necessary for the Navy.
Responding to questions raised by Vanni District Illankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi (ITAK) MP Thurairasa Ravikaran during the oral question and answer session in Parliament yesterday, he said that the Navy has released portions of the land several times previously.
