Sri Lanka, Aug. 18 -- Ten passengers were safely rescued after a ferry travelling from Kurikattuwan Jetty to Delft met with an accident near Nainativu on Sunday evening, following a swift response by the Sri Lanka Navy.Sri Lanka News

The boat was carrying two women and eight men when the accident occurred.

On receiving information about the incident, Fisheries, Aquatic and Ocean Resources Minister Ramalingam Chandrasekar contacted the Sri Lanka Navy and instructed them to launch a rescue operation.

Navy personnel responded to the incident and rescued all 10 passengers with the help of Nainativu and Delft residents.
