Sri Lanka, June 1 -- The National Vesak celebrations in Jaffna were inaugurated on Saturday (30), attracting large numbers of devotees, local residents, pilgrims and visitors from the South who gathered to witness the colourful festivities, with the main celebrations centred around Sri Nagavihara in Jaffna.

Northern Province Governor N. Vethanayahan officially inaugurated the special Vesak programmes organised by the Police and the Sri Lankan military in the Jaffna District.
