Sri Lanka, April 27 -- Transport, Highways and Urban Development Minister Bimal Rathnayake stated that measures will be taken to minimise road accidents in the country through the National Transport Action Plan.
Minister Rathnayake pointed out that under the current Government, elected by the people eighteen months ago, several sustainable programmes have been implemented to ensure the safety of public transport.
He further stated that the Government is implementing all necessary measures in accordance with the 'National Transport Action Plan' to ensure transport safety and protect the human resource of over 2,700 lives lost annually due to road accidents.
