Sri Lanka, Feb. 24 -- The Land Commissioner General's Department has received 76,000 applications to obtain land ownership under the National Programme for Granting Freehold Land Deeds.

The Department has already identified land for which there has been no objections from spouses or family members and is confident that it will be able to issue freehold land deeds for 40,000 to 50,000 of the applicants without any issue.
