Srilanka, June 15 -- Since Dengue has currently developed into a highly critical risk situation in Sri Lanka, the Government has decided to implement a National Dengue Prevention Week from today (15) to June 20 with the aim of controlling its spread.

This programme is being implemented jointly by the Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government Ministry and the Health and Mass Media Ministry and the Education Ministry and the Sri Lanka Police.

At a special discussion held under the chairmanship of Provincial Councils and Local Government Deputy Minister Ruwan Senarath, it was revealed that the number of dengue patients reported per week has exceeded the 1,000 limit and is currently rising rapidly.
