National Accident Prevention Week from July 6-10
Sri Lanka, July 7 -- One out of seven individuals in the country faces the risk of meeting with an accident each year that requires medical treatment.
Health and Mass Media Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa, speaking at the launch of the 11th National Accident Prevention Week yesterday (06) at the main auditorium of the Health and Mass Media Ministry, highlighted how six to eight citizens seek medical treatment due to accidents every single minute, a situation that must be treated as a serious public health crisis.
He pointed out further that accidents can currently be identified as a leading cause of hospital admissions in Sri Lanka with over 1.3 million people hospitalised annually due to accidents.
