Sri Lanka, May 28 -- The suspect, who was arrested by the police while hiding after allegedly murdering a couple in Hatton-Dickoya and was remanded at Pallekelle Prison after being produced in Court, escaped from prison guards early yesterday (27) while receiving treatment at the Kandy National Hospital for an illness.
The suspect, Sellaiah Manoj (47) residing in Haliela, who was arrested by Hatton police on suspicion of the double murder and produced in Court on 24 May, was remanded until June 3 by Hatton District Judge and Magistrate Peter Paul.
The suspect who was remanded in custody was admitted to Kandy National Hospital on Tuesday (26) due to an illness.
