Sri Lanka, July 6 -- Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa stated that he has no immediate intention of retiring from politics.

Rajapaksa said he feels that he has more service to do for the country. Replying to questions from journalists Rajapaksa said that the next Presidential candidate of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) will be decided based on public demand.

He added, that the SLPP will not grant the Presidential candidacy even to Namal Rajapaksa if the public does not demand it. The former President made these remarks while speaking to the media on Saturday after visiting the Sri Dalada Maligawa in Kandy.
