Sri Lanka, July 9 -- Prime Minister and Education Minister Dr.Harini Amarasuriya confirmed in Parliament yesterday that the pilot project aimed at reducing social media use by children under 16 has shown successful results.
The Government is currently formulating a national code of guidelines and exploring stricter measures to restrict minors' digital accesses. She noted that the pilot initiatives are utilising a "brain health" awareness approach to prioritise mental well-being. This project complements ongoing discussions involving the National Childcare and Protection Authority to introduce a national dialogue on completely banning or limiting social media use for children under 16.
