Sri Lanka, June 29 -- The Horana Special Crime Investigation Unit states that a woman and her daughter were arrested on Friday (26) in the Alubomulla area for fraudulently obtaining a sum of Rs. 2 million by deceiving an individual with the promise of providing employment in Italy.

Those arrested are a 41-year-old woman who runs a retail shop and her 20-year-old daughter, both residents of the Alubomulla area.

The arrest was made following a complaint lodged by an individual from the Pokunuwita area in Horana.

According to the Police, the complainant had come to know the suspect in the year 2024 through a friend, and to secure a job in Italy, the money had been deposited into two bank accounts provided by her at several instances from ...
