Sri Lanka, June 29 -- It is reported that more than 50 percent of the Government's vehicle fleet is over 15 years old.
Currently, the total number of vehicles across Government institutions stands at 96,027. Of these, 46,708 vehicles are more than 15 years old.
The Finance Ministry stated that revenue of Rs. 4,040.9 million has been earned over the past 16 months through the sale of Government-owned vehicles and other assets.
Commenting on this, the Comptroller General's Office, which functions under the ministry, noted that within this period, revenue of Rs. 3,312.8 million was generated from the sale of vehicles alone.
