Sri Lanka, May 29 -- The Irrigation Department has warned that a minor flood situation may occur within the next 48 hours in several low-lying areas along the Kuda Ganga and Maguru Ganga floodplains due to continuing rainfall in the upper catchment areas of the Kalu Ganga basin.

According to the department, the spill gates of the Kukule Ganga reservoir have also been opened, increasing the risk of rising water levels in surrounding areas.

The affected areas include the Bulathsinhala, Madurawala and Palindanuwara Divisional Secretariat Divisions, where low-lying roads near the Kuda Ganga and Maguru Ganga may become inundated.
