SriLanka, May 30 -- Sri Lanka's promising athlete Mihansa Abeyratne produced an impressive performance to win the bronze medal in the women's high jump at the Asian Under-20 Athletics Championship in Hong Kong yesterday.

Mihansa cleared 1.72m, her season's best, to secure a place on the podium.

India's Pooja won the gold medal with a leap of 1.93m, while China's Meiqi Chen claimed silver with 1.80m. Mihansa shared the bronze medal with Chinese Taipei athlete Peihsuan Lin, who also cleared 1.72m.

The 18-year-old President's College, Ratnapura athlete set a new national junior record of 1.74m last year and matched that height at the national trials ahead of this championship. Although she fell short of her personal best yesterday, her 1....
