Sri Lanka, Sept. 8 -- Transport, Highways and Urban Development Minister Bimal Rathnayake stated that steps are being taken to introduce the Metro Bus Service to the Galle, Kandy and Jaffna areas, expanding the service beyond the Western Province.

The Minister mentioned plans to increase the number of buses in the Metro Bus fleet to 122 within this month, adding that a Cabinet Paper has been submitted to purchase an additional 50 buses. Accordingly, the service is expected to expand to 172 buses by the end of this year or early next year.
