Sri Lanka, June 16 -- The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) yesterday filed a motion in Court requesting to issue notices ordering former Members of Parliament Wimal Weerawansa, Udaya Gammanpila, and Asanka Navarathna, as well as Sarvajana Balaya leader MP Dilith Jayaweera, Mahinda Pathirana, and Sugeeshwara Bandara to appear before the Court on July 1 over allegations of interfering with and influencing the ongoing investigations and judicial proceedings regarding the Easter Sunday terror attacks.

Colombo Fort Magistrate Pasan Amarasena however rejected the request made by the CID and advised the department to present this request before the Court of Appeal (CA) instead.
