Lorry without brakes runs over 61-year-old man
Sri Lanka, June 30 -- The Ingiriya Police said that a person was killed on the Saturday (27) after being hit by a firewood-laden lorry driving on the Ingiriya-Domabagaskanda road, which then overturned, causing damage to a house.
The deceased has been identified as H.S. Niyathapala Walawwatta, a 61-year-old father of one.
According to the Police, the accident occurred at around 5:25 pm. As the lorry was preparing to drive down a steep hill, the brakes failed, and the driver lost control of the vehicle, subsequently hitting the victim who was in the downhill area.
Investigations revealed that after striking the victim, the lorry dragged him forward for about 10 meters down the slope, crashed through the roof and kitchen area of a nearby...
