SriLanka, Sept. 9 -- Up Country Lions continued their dominant and unbeaten run in the Sri Lanka Super League with a convincing 2-0 victory over Colombo FC at the Sugathadasa Stadium yesterday.

With this win, Lions recorded their eighth straight win and stretching their lead at the top of the table to nine points.

The Nawalapitiya-based Lions once again showed why they are the team to beat this season, with Benjamin York opening the scoring in the 21st minute before Mohamed Akib added the second in the 67th minute.

York's early strike gave Up Country Lions a 1-0 advantage at half-time and put Colombo FC under pressure in a crucial clash between two teams near the top of the standings.
