Sri Lanka, March 18 -- Public transportation services will operate on a limited schedule on Wednesdays, declared a Government holiday, Cabinet Spokesman and Health and Mass Media Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa announced.

"The move follows the Government's earlier decision to designate Wednesdays as a holiday until further notice, in response to the ongoing fuel crisis triggered by the conflict in the Middle East," he added.

Speaking at the weekly Cabinet press briefing yesterday (17), the Minister said several options were carefully evaluated before finalising the arrangement.
