Sri Lanka, Aug. 14 -- Lawyers for Public Mandate have defended the proposed extension of the retirement age of judges by two years, stating that the decision is fully legal and should be addressed through the appropriate judicial process rather than political platforms.Political news analysis

Speaking at a media briefing in Colombo yesterday (13), Attorney-at-Law Navaratna Bandara said the matter was purely judicial in nature and should not be turned into a political issue.

He noted that anyone who disagrees with the decision would have the opportunity to challenge it through the proper legal channels.
