Sri Lanka, April 21 -- The Department of Census and Statistics revealed that the usage of laptops by household group in this country has increased to 19.7 percent.

This was revealed under the Population and Housing Census conducted by the same department in 2024. In the last census conducted in 2012, it had taken a percentage of 5.6 percent.

Meanwhile, it is also stated that the usage of desktop computers has decreased from 15 percent to 7.4 percent. Mobile phone usage has also increased from 78.9 percent in 2012 to 93.4 percent.

Accordingly, it is seen that about 94 percent of households use mobile phones, the department also states.
