Sri Lanka, June 19 -- The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) has arrested the General Manager of Lanka Salt Limited, Ratnayake Mudiyanselage Gunaratne, over alleged procurement irregularities.

According to CIABOC, the suspect was taken into custody this morning (19) on charges of causing a loss of nearly Rs. 14.3 million to the State and providing an undue benefit to a supplying company.

The allegations relate to the procurement of "Lak Lunu" packaging materials for the Hambantota Salt Company through a repeat order without following the proper procurement process.
