SriLanka, Sept. 29 -- Sri Lanka has officially selected Riverstone, directed by Lalith Ratnayake, as its entry for the 99th Academy Awards, making it the first Sinhala-language film to be officially submitted by the country for Oscar consideration, National Film Corporation Chairman Sudath Mahaadivulwewa announced yesterday (28).

Speaking at a special media briefing held at the Government Information Department, Mahaadivulwewa said Riverstone is Ratnayake's second feature film.

The film was produced by actress Nimanthi Porage, with Prabhath Roshan serving as its cinematographer. It was selected by Sri Lanka's Oscar Committee following a national selection process.
