Sri Lanka, March 21 -- Trade Minister Wasantha Samarasinghe yesterday said that discounts have been provided on 100 types of commodities at Lanka Sathosa, during the upcoming festive season.South Asians & Diaspora

The Minister said that it is possible to purchase rice from Lanka Sathosa at a lower price than the prevailing market price.

Prices per kilo of several food items that are discounted by Sathosa are as follows:White Nadu-Rs.217, White rice-Rs.203, Bread flour-Rs.254, Sprats-Rs.1,050, Lentils-Rs.264, B-Onions - Rs.150 to 160.

The Minister announced that a relief scheme has been introduced for consumers with a limit on the quantity of products that could be purchased per person.
