Sri Lanka, Feb. 23 -- A symbolic public protest was held in Point Pedro on Saturday (21) to mark 19 years since the arrest and disappearance of journalist and teacher S. Ramachandran, drawing attention to the continued absence of accountability in cases involving missing media workers.
The demonstration, organised by the Jaffna Vadamarachchi Media House, was held opposite the Point Pedro bus stand. Protesters demanded answers about the fate of Ramachandran, who was taken into custody in February 2007 during the height of the conflict, and whose whereabouts remain unknown.
