The initiative stems from a high-level meeting held last year between the President of Sri Lanka and Japan's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, where the two nations discussed strategic support for the island's transport sector.
Following subsequent consultations with the Japanese Embassy in Colombo, an agreement was reached to facilitate the transfer of these vehicles.
