Sri Lanka, Oct. 2 -- The Inland Revenue Department (IRD) has exceeded the Rs.2000 billion (Rs.2 trillion) mark by the end of the first nine months of this year.

A record revenue of Rs.2,040 billion has been achieved during the first nine months. It also represents an achievement of 85% of the annual revenue target. This is an increase of Rs.398 billion over the previous year. As of September 30, this year (2026), the Inland Revenue Department has succeeded in exceeding its revenue collection of Rs.2000 billion (2 trillion). Accordingly, the total departmental revenue collected during the period from January 1 to September 30, 2026 is reported to be Rs. 2,040 billion.
