Integration of Battery Energy Storage Systems into national power grid to begin from next month
Sri Lanka, Aug. 11 -- The integration of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) into the national power grid is scheduled to begin in early September, according to the Ports and Civil Aviation Ministry.
In a statement, the Ministry noted that construction work on utility-scale battery energy storage systems, planned for connection across 16 electrical grid substations countrywide, has entered its final phase. Imported in three shipments through the Colombo Port during May and June, these battery units are being installed rapidly with WindForce PLC completing roughly 85 percent of the project near the Anuradhapura substation.
