Sri Lanka, Aug. 27 -- Borella Police stated that an inmate who was deployed to clean the Welikada Prison holiday resort escaped on the motorcycle of the prison guard overseeing them on Tuesday (25).

Officers identified the escapee as M. M. Umesh, a resident of Medagoda, Nattandiya, who was detained at the Welikada Prison under the registration number E 33986.

According to the police, the manager deployed three inmates to clean the facility. Police noted that while the inmates were working, the manager returned to his official quarters for lunch.
