Hold PC: Elections without delay - Sajith
SriLanka, June 20 -- Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa yesterday challenged the Government to hold delayed Provincial Council Elections, asserting that a public vote is the necessary democratic litmus test to measure public sentiment regarding the country's governance, system changes, and recent policy reforms.
During discussions with port trade unions, he stated that if the Government is truly confident in its policies, it should allow citizens to evaluate its performance at the ballot box.
He accused the Government of intentionally postponing Provincial Council Elections out of fear of defeat following losses in previous Local Government Polls.
