Sri Lanka, Aug. 31 -- The Meteorology Department warned yesterday that the wave height in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle and Matara may increase by about (2.0 - 3.0) meters.

It said there is a possibility of seawater inundation over the near-shore areas extending from Chilaw to Matara via Colombo and Galle.

Naval and fishing communities engaged in activities in the aforementioned sea areas, as well as coastal communities living in the aforementioned near-shore areas, are advised to remain vigilant.
