Sri Lanka, June 6 -- Showers or thundershowers are expected at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-western provinces, as well as in the Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts, according to the Department of Meteorology.

The department said fairly heavy rainfall of about 75 mm is likely at some locations in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts.

Strong winds of 40 to 50 kmph can be expected at times over the western slopes of the central hills, the Northern and North-central provinces, and in the Hambantota and Trincomalee districts.

Fairly strong winds of 30 to 40 kmph are also likely at times in other parts of the island.
