SriLanka, Sept. 21 -- The Disaster Management Centre (DMC) has reported that more than 5,070 people from 1,138 families across 16 districts have been affected by the severe weather that occurred in the country in recent days. Two deaths has also been reported.

Meahwhile, DMC Director (Awareness) and Media Spokesperson Pradeep Kodippili said water levels have risen in several major river basins following heavy rainfall. He urged residents of Kitulgala, Avissawella and Yatiyantota along the Kelani River, as well as Bulathsinhala, Madurawala and Palindanuwara in the Kalu River basin, to remain vigilant and follow evacuation instructions if issued.
