Sri Lanka, June 12 -- The Department of Meteorology says showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-Western provinces, as well as in the Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts today (12).

Fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 75 mm is expected at some places in these areas.

Several spells of showers are also likely in the Hambantota and Anuradhapura districts, while showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Uva Province and in the Ampara and Batticaloa districts after 1.00 p.m.

Meanwhile, strong winds of 40-50 kmph can be expected at times over the western slopes of the central hills, the Northern and North-Central provinces, and in the Hambantota and Trincomalee districts....
