Sri Lanka, June 4 -- The Department of Meteorology says showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-Western provinces today (04), as well as in the Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts.

According to the weather forecast issued at 5.30 a.m., heavy rainfall of about 100 mm is likely at some places in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts.

The department also warned of strong winds of 40-50 kmph at times over the western slopes of the central hills, the Northern and North Central provinces, and in the Hambantota and Trincomalee districts.

Fairly strong winds of 30-40 kmph can be expected at times in other parts of the country. ...
