Halted 50,000 housing project to begin soon - Minister
Sri Lanka, June 25 -- The Government will resume construction work of 50,000 houses in the country immediately. These projects began between 2019 and 2024 especially through village housing projects but was halted halfway, Housing, Construction and Water Supply Minister Dr. Susil Ranasinghe told Parliament.
He said a programme is currently underway to construct 10,000 new houses for low-income earners living in unsafe temporary shelters who don't have a house nor have funds to construct a house by allocating Rs.1 million per family.
