Government to enact new cyber laws and the Cyber Crimes Regulatory Authority
India, May 23 -- The Government has taken urgent steps to enact new cyber laws as the threat of cyber-attacks on Sri Lanka increases day by day where the country does not have adequate laws to deal with this crisis, Digital Economy Deputy Minister Eranga Weeraratne told Parliament.
In reply to questions raised by New Democratic Front (NDF) MP Ravi Karunanayake under Standing Order 27/2 regarding cyber-attacks yesterday, the Deputy Minister said that the proposed Cyber Security Act is currently in the draft stage and the new cyber law and the proposed 'Cyber Crimes Regulatory Authority' under it are expected to be enacted by the end of this year to combat the increasing threat of cyber-attacks on the country.
