Sri Lanka, Oct. 7 -- A case filed against Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) Secretary Ven. Galagoda Atthe Gnanasara Thera for making a statement slandering Islam was fixed for October 23 when it came before Colombo High Court Judge Buddhika C Ragala yesterday.

The Attorney General had filed indictment under section 2019(B) of the Penal code against the monk for making a statement slandering the Islamic religion.

When the monk was produced before Court yesterday, he was wearing prison attire instead of his monastic robes.

He was brought to court by prison officials to be produced before the judge in connection with a warrant for his arrest which was issued by the Colombo High Court.

The monk has been sentenced to six years imprisonment for contempt...
