Sri Lanka, June 25 -- A comprehensive investigation is underway into the clash between the police and the public in the Deraniyagala area recently and appropriate legal action will be taken if the police officers are found guilty, Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananda Wijepala told Parliament.

He made this statement in the House yesterday in response to questions raised by New Democratic Front (NDF) MP Ravi Karunanayake under the Standing Order 27/2.

The Minister stated that the nationwide programme implemented against drugs is being carried out in an excellent manner. He said that special drug raids are being carried out countrywide and large quantities of drugs have been seized and are being seized.
