Fuel distributors seek 20% rise in transport charges
Srilanka, Oct. 3 -- A 20% increase in fuel transport charges has been requested until the transport charge pricing formula is updated and revised, the Petroleum Dealer's Association said yesterday (2).Energy & Utilities
The Association said tanker operators responsible for fuel transport are facing a crisis over transport charges. It warned that operators will not report for work if a solution is not reached yesterday, and that it cannot accept responsibility if tanker truck operators fail to report for duty.
According to the Association, operators are currently incurring a loss of around Rs.25,000 per truck per month while carrying out operations. They have stated that they can no longer bear this financial burden.
