Sri Lanka, April 1 -- With the aim of managing public expenditure during the energy crisis, the Cabinet has approved the payment of the fuel allowance granted to Ministers, MPs and public officials based on the fuel price prevailing on March 1 this year until further notice.

The proposal submitted by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake as Finance, Planning and Economic Development Minister in this regard also mandates to make other allowances related to fuel also be based on the fuel price which prevailed on March 1.

The Government has already taken various urgent measures to mitigate the impact on the economy due to the prevailing conflict situation in the Middle East region.
