FR petition alleging lapses in Ditwah disaster management fixed for October 30
Sri Lanka, July 16 -- The Supreme Court yesterday fixed October 30 to support a Fundamental Rights petition filed by a lawyer in Kandy, alleging failures by the several State authorities to take timely and co-ordinated action to mitigate the impact of Cyclonic 'Ditwah', despite advance warnings of the impending disaster.
The Supreme Court was informed that a petitioner challenging matters relating to weather forecasts intends to submit a BBC documentary together with a slideshow containing weather forecasts for Sri Lanka from November 13, 2025, in support of the case.
