Sri Lanka, March 26 -- Major General (Retired) Suresh Sallay, former head of the State Intelligence Service (SIS), has been discharged from the National Hospital in Colombo following treatment for a sudden illness.

After his release, he returned to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), where he continues to be held in detention.

Sallay was arrested by the CID on 25 February in Peliyagoda in connection with the ongoing investigation into the 2019 Easter Sunday bombings. He is currently being held under a 90-day detention order while authorities investigate his alleged links to the attacks.

Reports indicate that family members had requested permission to visit him during his hospital stay, but the request was not granted.
