Sri Lanka, April 16 -- Former Member of Parliament Chandana Kathriarachchi has been arrested by the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) following the recovery of firearms-related items from his residence in Piliyandala, police said.
Police said the arrest was made based on information received regarding the presence of firearms. Acting on that information, CCD officers conducted a search of Kathriarachchi's residence.
During the search, police recovered two T-56 magazines, 221 rounds of T-56 ammunition, and an additional stock of ammunition.
Following his arrest, Chandana Kathriarachchi is due to be produced before the Kesbewa Magistrate's Court.
