SriLanka, Sept. 30 -- A former Commissioner (Investigations) of the Land Title Settlement Department was arrested yesterday (29) on charges of corruption, the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) said in a statement.

The suspect, Nishantha Mohan Wickramasinghe, is accused of abusing his official authority while serving as Commissioner (Investigations). He allegedly issued an investigation report, using the department's letterhead and an irregular investigation reference number, that falsely portrayed a State-owned land as belonging to a private party.

The land is located at No.30, Elliott Road, Borella. It is 1.0982 hectares in extent and has a market value of Rs.1.586 billion.The Commission alleges th...
