SriLanka, Sept. 25 -- Former Krrish Group director Janaki Siriwardena was arrested yesterday (24) by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) and remanded until October 6, over claims she offered Member of Parliament Namal Rajapaksa a bribe of Rs. 70 million.

The Commission alleges Siriwardena provided the money in exchange for Rajapaksa's help in expediting the acquisition of the 'Transworks Square' land in Colombo Fort, which is owned by the Urban Development Authority. The company had reportedly been seeking to acquire the land.

Investigators said a total of Rs. 70 million was handed over to Rajapaksa on three separate occasions.
