SriLanka, July 18 -- Former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chandana Deepal Wickramaratne has died after sustaining gunshot injuries at his residence in Thalahena, Malambe yesterday morning (17) at around 7.30 am.

The Police Media Division confirmed the death of the former IGP C.D.Wickramaratne who was rushed to the Eastern Colombo Teaching Hospital, Mulleriyawa after sustaining gunshot injuries at his residence in Parakrama Road, Thalahena, Malambe early yesterday morning.

Police stated that the former IGP was pronounced dead upon admission to the Mulleriyawa Hospital. An investigation has been launched over his death after he was admitted to the Mulleriyawa Hospital with gunshot injuries. Police Media Spokesman ASP F. U. Wootler sai...
