Sri Lanka, Aug. 19 -- Former Ceylon Fisheries Corporation chairman Mahil Senaratne was arrested yesterday by investigating officers of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) on charges of corruption for granting approval to two directly selected entities to construct and renovate fish outlets between 2010-2012.

The suspect, Nandukara Halambage Mahil Priyadarshi Senaratne, had granted approval bypassing prescribed procurement process and by influencing officials to release payments to the two entities. The nationwide outlets were to come under the Ceylon Fisheries Corporation. The suspect was later released on bail by the Colombo Chief Magistrate.Geographic Reference
