Sri Lanka, July 29 -- The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) on Monday (27) arrested a former Management Services Officer of the Department of Motor Traffic (DMT) in connection with the registration of a fraudulently imported motor vehicle.
The suspect is alleged to have facilitated the unlawful registration of a vehicle that was imported into Sri Lanka without proper Customs clearance and without the payment of mandatory import duties.
According to CIABOC, the former officer enabled the fraudulent registration by allocating counter service numbers for the vehicle's initial ownership transfer and entering the vehicle's details into the DMT's computer system.
